Network accessibility
TCL is constantly improving access to its network. The goal is to provide a transportation system that meets the needs of all travelers, whether they have a disability or not, in order to promote independence and mobility in daily travel.
Equipment availability
Major elevator replacement plan
SYTRAL Mobilités pursues a proactive policy of maintaining and renewing its infrastructure and equipment. The aim is to offer the best possible travel conditions and comfort to TCL network users. A vast action plan is being deployed to renovate and modernize the network's escalators and elevators.
Check the status of elevators and escalators on the TCL network:
- On our website in the "Getting around" section > "Elevator and escalator availability"
- On the TCL app: "Menu">"Accessibility information on equipment"
- By sms, notifications and/or email by subscribing to traffic info/accessibility alerts. (Remember to add your line as a favorite).
- By telephone by contacting Allô TCL. New: calls to the "Lifts and escalators" menu will be prioritized every day from 6am to 10pm, starting February 24.
How to proceed?
- 📱 Call 04 26 10 12 12
Type 0 to access the "Lifts and escalators"
- Then choose your option:
- If you are a user in a wheelchair or with reduced mobility and currently experiencing difficulty accessing or exiting a metro station, type 1.
- If you wish to obtain information on the operation of elevators and escalators, type 2.
- To know the availability of elevators and escalators, type 3.
- Then enter the 3-digit elevator number (located above the door) or the 4-digit escalator number (located inside the right-hand ramp).
- Finally, type * to view the full list of available escalators and elevators.
Subways and funiculars
- Stations can be accessed directly (from -to) or by elevator, except for Croix-Paquet station on metro C, whose configuration doesn't allow for any accommodation.
- Braille control panels indicate the different levels served.
- Audio messages provide information on the direction of the metro and the name of the street on the surface.
Adapted spaces:
Adapted gates are provided for people with reduced mobility. Press the button to open the first gate, then validate your ticket at the terminal on the right to open the second.
On the entire TCL network, ticket validation is audible and visual.
Retractable thresholds are installed between the platform and the metro. All Metro D trains are equipped with them, Metro B trains since 2022 and Metro A trains since 2024. On the platform, an illuminated sign indicates their location.
Spaces with grab barshelp stabilize you as you move.
An audible beacon is present at the entrance to metro and funicular stations. Once activated with your universal remote control, it indicates the location of the metro station's entrance or external elevator. On the stairs in metro and funicular stations, the edges of the steps have a specific color and texture. The first and last risers are a different color. At the top of each staircase there is a warning strip.
Trams
The tramway is fully accessible. Platforms are fitted out and trams are equipped with retractable thresholds and an integral low floor to make entry and exit easier for people in wheelchairs or with baby carriages.
Bus
All buses are accessible. They all have the following equipment:
- outside loudspeakers indicating line number and destination (activated by universal remote control),
- outside destination display on front and side,
- retractable sills,
- low floors,
- spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility,
- stop request and door opening buttons in Braille,
- audible and visual stop announcements,
- audible signals when opening and closing doors.
Redesigned stops with:
- Raised sidewalks,
- Ramped platform access.
7 out of 10 stops are equipped for people with reduced mobility!
- All accessible stops are indicated by pictograms on line thermometers. Find them in the horaires section.
Navigône
The line is served by 2 new electric boats that are fully wheelchair-accessible and have 4 reserved PMR places. Stops will gradually be made accessible to PRMs, with the exception of the future Saint-Vincent stop, whose configuration between the upper and lower quays does not allow this.
TCL agencies
You are a deaf or hard-of-hearing person:
All agencies (except Villefranche sur Saône agency) are equipped with a BIM (Boucle d'Induction Magnétique) which amplifies sound for hard-of-hearing people.
For your information, the front doors of the 5 TCL agencies ( excluding Villefranche sur Saône agency) have a high-mounted sound beacon announcing the opening times and precise location of the agencies.
